As of this writing, the Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC) still has room for people interested in learning about the new Intellectual Property (IP) Development Fund. Two of six sessions have been filled.
As a matter of practice, I urge my clients to attend grant information sessions. They are immensely instructional. First, they give you straight-on information about funding agencies, the grant stream and the granting application. Program Officers are usually in attendance and they will tell you exactly what they are looking for in a grant application. I like to know exactly what people want. You may even get an opportunity to ask them specific questions about your marketing plans or your pitch package. Second, it is a good place to meet other filmmakers and share war stories - there is much to learn from the experiences of others. And, third, these sessions will add to your overall knowledge of film financing in Canada - a critical component of film-making.
Here's the OMDC web page where you can register for one of the sessions.
